At the Borodyansky Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation, which is subordinated to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, they were already expecting our arrival. Why? They were waiting for our help.
And we delivered it without delay: functional medical beds and mattresses for them, wheelchairs, walkers (rollators), toilet chairs, heaters, shower chairs, bedside tables, infusion tripods, first aid kits – all of these are in demand as the Center is developing its services.
And there are a lot of them: individual counseling, group therapy and support groups, family counseling, ergo, art, cryotherapy and virtual reality rooms to help overcome the effects of combat trauma. All services for veterans, their families and families of fallen defenders will be free of charge. The Center’s priorities include returning veterans to active social life, restoring and maintaining their mental and physical health, introducing innovative forms of assistance, and providing legal support.
The Borodyansky Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation is a pilot project of a modern model of social and psychological rehabilitation for veterans implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. It was destroyed by the Russians in March 2022 and restored on the second anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region from the Russian occupiers.
We would like to add that earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy donated $100,000 for the construction of this center, a monetary reward he received along with the Medal of Freedom, which is awarded in the United States to prominent world figures.
